When I was little I would sit in my rocking chair in the living room of our NYC apartment, or sometimes on my mamas bead and read, look through her fabulous art books, Frida Kahlo was my favorite artist since then. Id mull through amazed and sometimes saddened by her amazing paintings and drawings.
It has been a fun and fabulous experience helping the Brooklyn Museum shop source Mexican folk art. It was so much fun having them come and buy & fill their boxes and bags with tin Milagros, wood painted mano/hands, talavera pottery, shot glasses, pitchers, tin rose mirrors, Corazon frames, loteria tees and lots lots more !
It was fun to go see the show, interesting, loved seeing all her clothes and a few paintings, the videos where super interesting, about Juchitecan culture and clothing.
La Sirena will be having a pop up shop at the Brooklyn Museum May 4 & 5, cant wait !
